An IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT drug used for primary immunosuppression in recipients of kidney or liver transplants (see TRANSPLANTATION) where the natural rejection process has been resistant to conventional immunosuppression regimens such as CORTICOSTEROIDS, AZATHIOPRINE and CICLOSPORIN A. It is also sometimes used to treat severe cases of eczema (see DERMATITIS).
