A precursor of DOPAMINE and NORADRENALINE. Levodopa is a drug used in the treatment of PARKINSONISM. It can cross the blood–brain barrier and increase the concentration of dopamine in the basal ganglia. It also inhibits prolactin secretion and may be used to treat GALACTORRHOEA.
