Tissue material that has a glass-like appearance when stained and viewed under the microscope. It occurs in a variety of tissues and diseases, particularly ACUTE RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME (ARDS), hyaline degeneration of arterioles, and alcoholic liver disease.
